Where the mountain radiates from within
Hidden in fissures and crevices for millions of years, rock crystals have always exerted a strange fascination on people. Crystal hunters often take great risks to ferret out the extraordinary minerals. One of the few professional crystal prospectors lives in Mörel, at the foot of the UNESCO Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site in the Aletsch Arena. Werner Schmidt can not only explain vividly what is so special about hunting for crystals, he also has an 800kg ‘find of the century’ on show in his Crystal Museum.
